ABOUT Us
The AFP Foundation is a non-profit-making organisation set up by Agence France-Presse, one of the three global news agencies. Its primary aim is to provide training to journalists in developing countries.
The Foundation has a distinct identity under French law and operates with its own budget. Its administrators and most of its trainers are experienced journalists working on secondment from the parent agency.

Our mission
The AFP Foundation exists in the belief that independent and responsible media can help people make informed decisions about their lives and thus contribute to reducing poverty and defending human rights. The Foundation will seek, through the training it provides, to raise professional standards and to promote press freedom.
The AFP Foundation supports efforts to improve the working conditions of journalists and the protection of those working in combat zones and other dangerous areas, especially freelance reporters and photographers. It also supports efforts to elevate the status of women in the news media.
Keeping in touch
The AFP Foundation wishes to keep in touch with people who have taken part in our training courses.
